VetComm Invests in a Worthy Endeavor: Veteran Owned Businesses and Non Profits
CEO Kate Monroe’s New Mission: Supporting other veterans that help their communities.
At VETCOMM, our mission has always been to empower veterans by helping them receive the VA disability benefits they’re owed after service. While our core focus is on assisting veterans with these benefits, our commitment extends far beyond that. We believe that true support means fostering a strong and connected community where veterans can find purpose, camaraderie and new opportunities.
Veterans face unique challenges, from mental health struggles to physical disabilities and the transition to civilian life. While government programs and traditional support networks play a role, grassroots organizations and veteran-led initiatives often make the most direct and personal impact. These initiatives create safe spaces for veterans to heal, grow and redefine their futures, whether through mentorship, adaptive sports or entrepreneurial endeavors.
This is why VETCOMM actively supports veterans beyond our normal scope. We believe in backing initiatives that uplift and inspire, connecting veterans to opportunities that help them thrive. Here are just a few of the incredible organizations and people we’re proud to support.
Warriors of the Wind
Warriors of the Wind Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Lemoore, California, dedicated to supporting veterans facing mental health challenges. Founded by Marine veteran Dallas Poore, the foundation focuses on fostering connections among veterans to promote healing and camaraderie.
The foundation engages in various initiatives, including organizing events at senior living facilities, participating in graffiti removal projects, and collaborating with veteran motorcycle associations for fundraising rides. Through these activities, Warriors of the Wind aims to create a supportive community where veterans can find purpose and support.

Big Country
Brian “Big Country” Conwell is a disabled veteran who lost his legs on Jan. 7, 2014, at Fort Riley, Kansas. Despite doctors’ predictions that he would never walk again, Conwell taught himself to walk in October 2020 and returned to the gym by February 2021. His journey through severe depression, anxiety, PTSD and chronic pain showcases his resilience and determination.
Embracing adaptive sports, Conwell competed in the 2021 National Veterans Wheelchair Games, excelling in shot put, discus and powerlifting. In 2022, he earned four gold medals — one internationally — three silver and three bronze medals. Aiming to join Team USA for the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles, Conwell founded Big Country Athletics, an LLC dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to engage in fitness and adaptive sports. His mission is to help others recognize their disabilities as unique strengths.

“Helping veterans get the benefits they’re owed is just the start. What really matters is building a community where they can heal, connect and find new purpose,” says VETCOMM CEO Kate Monroe. “VETCOMM is all about backing the incredible initiatives led by veterans. When veterans lift each other up, amazing things happen. That’s the kind of support that makes a difference.”
As VETCOMM continues to stand behind these causes, our dedication to uplifting the veteran community remains clear — ensuring that those who have served receive the support, recognition and opportunities they deserve.
