Stronger Support for Veterans: VA Expands Disability Services

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has been making headlines with major improvements in claims processing, healthcare access and patient safety. From faster claim approvals to expanded medical services, these updates are designed to strengthen VA disability services.

So, what does this mean for you, veterans? It means less stress and fewer delays when your claim is filed correctly. At VETCOMM US, we provide personalized guidance to help you avoid costly mistakes and stay on top of every deadline, so you can file your claim with confidence.

VA Claims Processing: 2.5 Million Claims Processed

In recent years, veterans have faced backlogs when filing disability claims, but now the VA is seeing major improvements in 2025:

  • Over 2.5 million rating claims have been processed as of August, surpassing the total processed in all of fiscal year 2024.

  • The backlog of pending claims has dropped 37% since January 2025.

  • Despite receiving 10% more claims this year, the VA is completing them almost 18% faster than before.

Expanded VA Healthcare Access

The VA is enhancing access to care through several key initiatives, including opening new clinics, extending appointment availability and improving healthcare infrastructure. Key highlights include:

  • 16 new healthcare clinics opened nationwide in 2025.

  • Over 1 million appointments have been offered outside normal operating hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

  • The department is investing $800 million to upgrade and improve healthcare facilities.

These initiatives aim to make healthcare more accessible and convenient for veterans, ensuring timely and high-quality care.

Protecting Veterans from Counterfeit Medical Devices

Additionally, the VA Inspector General’s office has launched Operation Genuine Valor, a nationwide initiative to crack down on counterfeit medical devices, equipment and medications in VA hospitals and clinics. Working closely with multiple federal agencies, including the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center, the operation is designed to detect supply chain vulnerabilities and enforce regulations that safeguard veterans’ healthcare.

“Our veterans risked their lives for our freedoms, and now it’s our turn to protect them,” said the Director of the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center. This mission reinforces the VA’s commitment to ensuring veterans receive safe, reliable medical care and that those who served are never put at risk by fraudulent products.

Service Dog Support for Disabled Veterans

The VA is also expanding medical and disability support services for veterans. Currently, only about 1% of U.S. veterans who need a service dog actually receive one, due to high training costs and limited availability.

The Service Dogs Assisting Veterans (SAVES) Act is new legislation designed to change that, providing disabled veterans with service dogs at no cost. The Act establishes a VA grant program that provides $10 million annually to nonprofit organizations accredited by Assistance Dogs International (ADI).

These grants allow nonprofits to train and provide service dogs to veterans with service-related conditions beyond PTSD, including traumatic brain injury and mobility impairments. Each grant recipient can receive up to $2 million per year, covering the full cost of the service dog, including training and veterinary care. This initiative is part of the VA’s ongoing efforts to help veterans regain independence and enhance overall quality of life.

What This Means for Veterans

With these updates, veterans are seeing faster claims processing, better access to healthcare and expanded support programs. That means your chance of getting the benefits you deserve has never been higher. Don’t let a claim be denied because of small, preventable mistakes.

A well-prepared claim makes all the difference. VETCOMM US provides free claim reviews and hands-on guidance to help veterans avoid errors and maximize their compensation.

VETCOMM offers a Money-Back Guarantee for veterans who follow the full process as outlined. When you sign up, you agree to allow us two attempts to help you secure at least a 10% VA rating. To remain eligible for a refund, you must attend all scheduled appointments with our team and complete your VA-requested C&P exams.

If your first VETCOMM-assisted claim results in a total VA rating increase of 10% or more, the goal of the course has been achieved and the guarantee is fulfilled. No refund is issued.

If your first claim does not lead to a 10% total increase, VETCOMM will assist you in filing a second claim.
If the second claim results in a 10% or greater increase, the goal has been achieved and the guarantee is fulfilled.

If your second claim also does not result in a 10% total increase, you have two options:

  1. Request a full refund

  2. Proceed with a third filing and waive your right to a refund

Filing a third claim fulfills the guarantee obligation, regardless of outcome. Many veterans require multiple filings due to documentation challenges or individual circumstances that affect how the VA awards ratings. While we assist in the process, approval decisions are made solely by the VA.

There are a few situations where the Guarantee Refund Policy does not apply:

  • Veterans with a 90% Total Disability Rating:
Due to how the VA calculates ratings, increasing from 90% to 100% is very difficult. VETCOMM will still assist with up to three (3) VETCOMM-assisted claims, but no refund will be issued if a 10% total increase is not awarded.

  • Veterans with an Other Than Honorable (OTH) Discharge:
Veterans with an OTH discharge can still file claims with VETCOMM. However, because of additional VA restrictions, we will assist with up to two (2) VETCOMM-assisted claims, and no refund will be issued if a 10% total increase is not awarded.
